Because the best classroom and the ultimate playground are roofed only by the sky…
Does your child suffer from “nature-deficit disorder”? Kept inside for ‘safety’ and glued to screens for hours on end, many children today simply don’t spend enough time in the great outdoors.
At Tugela Trails, we believe that being outdoors is an essential part of growing up – nature is a teacher, a healer, a nurturer… and a whole lot of fun. When we connect with nature, we connect with who we truly are.
Our KZN school camps and kids holiday camps are designed to push kids out of their comfort zones and into a space of learning about the outdoors, and about themselves – all in a safe, healthy and inspiring environment.
Your child will have a chance to learn some amazing Bear Grylls type outdoor skills as well as some essential social and inter-personal skills
Bush skills and survival skills that kids will be able to use when they get back home.
Life skills and social skills, learning to treat others with respect and kindness.
Love and appreciation for nature and outdoors.
A passion for learning and living.
Resilience, self confidence and sense of responsibility.
A sense of gratitude for what they have in life and what their parents do for them.
Tugela Trails is owned by husband and wife team Lee and Claire Fuller.
Both are passionate about getting kids outdoors and watching children from all walks of life evolve and develop through their KZN school camps and outdoor education programmes.
From wildlife guides to sports coaches and adventure leaders, the Tugela Trails’ team has been hand-selected for their professionalism and enthusiasm. We’re proud to have some of the most qualified facilitators in the country showing kids how privileged they are to be able to spend time in nature.
KZN holidays camps
Left to their own devices during the school holidays, many children will default to sedentary screen time. Tugela Trails is here to give them the best holiday experience of their lives. Our Wilderness Skills camps and unique Bushcraft courses are the ultimate outdoor learning experiences that also happen to be a ton of fun!
We’re an outdoor classroom where kids have fun, learn bushcraft, survival skills and are exposed to environmental ethics and conservation awareness.
Camp activities include:
- Potjiekos competitions
- Swimming in rivers and dams
- Fort building
- Pellet gun shooting
- Hiking with a pack and setting up camp
- Sleeping under the stars

An Outdoor Adventure That Changes Lives
We know that kids who spend time with us come out changed people. They’re more appreciative of nature, and also more grateful in their everyday lives. We love watching kids go from couch potatoes to confident, avid adventurers.
